Explore the art of telling stories in this one-day workshop on Saturday 19th September at Ulster Folk Museum.

Storyteller, Stephen O'Hara, will teach you how to structure a story effectively, creating a clear beginning, middle and end that captures and holds attention. Discover techniques for bringing stories to life using voice, pacing, gesture, expression and imagination.

The course will also explore how to connect with an audience, building confidence and developing the skills needed to make storytelling memorable and enjoyable for listeners of all ages. Whether new to storytelling or looking to refresh existing skills, participants will leave with tools and inspiration to share stories with greater impact.

Stephen O'Hara is a retired English teacher who owned Ireland's only Storytelling Cafe, until the pandemic forced its closure. He tells tales from Irish folklore and mythology and takes a special interest in the lived experience of people in history and how their lives became woven into the oral storytelling tradition. He has delivered storytelling courses across Northern Ireland and the border counties and worked with different community groups to help them bring local stories to life.
