Homes In Focus: Cluan Place

As part of European Heritage Open Days, discover the Cluan Place Houses at Ulster Folk Museum. In this talk, our Senior Curator of History, Victoria Millar, will delve into the the history of these unique homes.

Discover what life was like for those who lived in the Cluan Place Houses in the early 1900s, including Margaret Cranston, who earned a living through needlework, and William Cranston, Margaret's brother, who was a labourer in the shipyard.

Originally located close to the junctions of the Mountpottinger and Albertbridge Roads in East Belfast, the houses were constructed as 'cottage-style' houses, with features including a small projecting porch and a tiny front garden with railings.
