We are delighted to be welcoming local and international experts to the Ulster Folk Museum for this special event exploring the traditions and possibilities of fermentation.

Do you ever wonder why certain cultures are associated so strongly with certain foods or practices? Do you wonder what an Ulster culture identity is, or even more, what may have been missed? Through the traditions of fermentation, come and explore the possibilities available through our modern lens, as cultures fuse in this unique event.

Dearbhla Reynolds (The Cultured Club) will be joined by author Kirsten Shockey and chef Mara King to demonstrate how you can harness wild yeasts to make vinegars and summer inspired sodas. This is a deep dive exploring how fermentation helps us find a sense of place.

There will be plenty of tastings and demonstrations to install a lifelong skill of flavour, experimentation and connection, to both our landscape and heritage traditions.
