The Ulster Folk Museum is located at 153 Bangor Road, Cultra, County Down, BT18 0EU and is easily accessible by public transport.

Over the summer months, there will be adjustments to some City Centre bus stops due to the building of the new Belfast Grand Central Station at Great Victoria Street. This will affect travelling to the museum by bus.

From Belfast:

Take the 502a or the 502b Ulsterbus from Laganside Buscentre in Belfast City Centre, towards Cultra, Ulster Folk Museum. There is no bus from Europa Buscentre anymore. Disembark at Ulster Folk Museum and from there the 10-minute walk up to the museum is signposted. Please note the walk is uphill, so if you have any accessibility requirements, please call us on 028 9042 8428 before your arrival and we'll help you.

From outside Belfast:

If you are travelling from outside of Belfast, please refer to Ulsterbus and Goldliner timetables on Translink's website to plan your journey.

A revised NI Railways timetable will operate from Wednesday 3 July until early Autumn to facilitate the building of the new Belfast Grand Central Station at Great Victoria Street. This will affect travelling to the museum by train.

If you’re travelling to us by train, you need to get on the Bangor line from Lanyon station and disembark at Cultra station. You will come across the Transport Museum first when you arrive, and it’s a 15-minute walk from there to the Folk Museum. Please note the walk is uphill, so if you have any accessibility requirements please call us on 028 9042 8428 before your arrival and we'll help you.

From Belfast City Centre, take the A2 towards City Airport/Bangor/Holywood, then keep left onto the Sydenham By-Pass A2. Follow the A2 for 3.7 miles until you reach the museum on your left-hand side, just past the Culloden Hotel.

Parking is free and available for all visitors. Overflow parking is available in our lower car park as well.  

We currently do not have any e-charging stations for electric cars (EV) in the Folk Museum car parks. However, there are two charging stations down at the Ulster Transport Museum.
